Fertility and Pre-Conception Reflexology
Planning a family is a very exciting time for a couple and pre-conceptual care for both partners is very important. Being in optimal health prior to trying for a baby (preconception), and while the couple is trying to conceive are as equally important. Reflexology is a natural and nurturing treatment which encourages our body's systems to work together optimally and so help to create the right environment for conception. It is not a cure for infertility but it can help to balance your hormones, improve your circulation and aid the body in cleansing itself of toxins allowing you body to be in the best emotional and physical balance. Importantly, it also helps with relaxation and lowering the anxiety and stress levels a couple may feel who are trying to conceive.
It is recommended to begin reflexology treatments a couple of months prior to trying for a baby to help prepare you both physically and emotionally. Please visit the following link from the Association of Reflexologists to hear a client with a fertility problem talking about her positive experience with reflexology: reflexology for fertility.
A course of reflexology treatments may help with:
- Menstrual Cycle Problems (painful, irregular or absent)
- Natural Conception
- Assisted Conception (IVF, IUI, ICSI)
- Unexplained infertility (Idiopathic factors)
- Conditions which affect fertility (PCOS, endometriosis, fibroids, PID)
The following links provide further information by Barbara Scott, a leading reflexologist in fertility reflexology who has also recently published a book entitled Reflexology for fertility: A Practitioners Guide.
